If you are more of a morning person this one is for you; small class in the lovely Oak Tree Gallery. 

Over the course of a block we go from head to toe with a different focus each week.  The aim is to develop more balanced use of the body so that you can improve overall strength and capability. Anyone new to this classes must attend a foundational private or small group session before the start of the new term.

The focus of this class is how to improve core strength & function through learning how to move and use your whole body in a different way.

In these classes you will

Learn: how the core is integrated into whole-body movement

Experience: how your body alignment affects your core strength

Exercise: your upper and lower body to encourage the core muscles to join in as you move throughout your day

Target: your core with some specific movements that sustainably improve core strength

Please note: this class does require that you can get down to the floor and up again with ease. If you have any concerns please email me for advice.

Better Balance in Six Exercises

This one-hour class will lead you through some of the foundational moves found in the book Dynamic Aging . This book was written by my teacher and renowned biomechanist Katy Bowman in collaboration with four of her clients, all in their seventies at the time of writing.

This class is suitable for all but is particularly designed for those who want to improve and/or maintain their balance and movement capacity as they get older. You will receive a handout of all the exercises in the class to practice at home.

For this class you do not need to get down to the floor and you will have access to a chair at all times for extra stability.

Please stay afterwards for a cup of tea and a chat from 11am to 11.30am.

Whole Body Core and Pelvic Floor

Due to popular demand, this course is being repeated but this time it is suitable for beginners.  Prepare to leave this workshop with a different perspective on how to improve your core! 

Your core is really everything that your arms and legs attach to from your pelvic floor to the chest. Full participation of the core depends on movements and mobilities in the hands, arms, legs, pelvis, spine and ribs and core strength depends on how much we move and load those parts throughout the day. In this workshop we will focus on all of this! We will also practice some natural movements that load the core in a dynamic way such as crawling, walking and carrying and at least some of this we will take outside on a walk.

Wildling Shoes are an innovative ethical barefoot-shoe company from Germany. Wildling is on tour this summer and they are coming to my garden! Wildling has a wonderful range of adult and kids barefoot shoes and you can come and try them on while enjoying the spring garden and a cup of tea at Woodside Cottage.
