One to One Coaching

1-2-1 Movement Coaching for women or men with pelvic floor & core issues wanting to get stronger and live a more active life.

You are done with your symptoms; fed up with peeing when you laugh, structuring your life around toilet stops or dealing with constant pain or discomfort. You are frustrated at having to avoid activities that you love because you no longer feel like yourself.

This coaching is designed to help you get back to living your active life with confidence.

Most of my clients are women but I help men too. Whether you are dealing with incontinence, prolapse, diastasis recti, chronic pelvic or back pain, there is much that you can do to help your situation.

When it comes to an issue in the body we often isolate parts that are not working and try to ‘fix’ them by working on them alone, forgetting that our muscles are part of an integrated system.

' This is why, instead of an isolated approach I take a systems approach '

Kegel exercises, isolated voluntary contractions of the pelvic floor, are the most well-known form of pelvic floor physical therapy. While this can be a good skill to train, it is limited in scope; a ‘one-type-of contraction’,  ‘one-muscle solution’ will never translate well to complex activities like jumping and hiking. In situations where pelvic floor tension is too high such as with chronic pelvic pain, Kegels are not the correct therapy at all.

This is why, instead of an isolated approach I take a systems approach, the aim being to rebalance our bodies so that the pelvic floor and core muscles work reflexively with the rest of our bodies and responsively to the needs of the activities we are doing, be it lifting weights, jumping, sneezing or resting.

You will get stronger, more supple and balanced across your whole body not just in the pelvic floor and core.

During our work together we will not be doing 1000s of Kegels and Crunches. Instead we will:

  • Challenge pelvic floor & core muscles through progressive whole-body routines that integrate the core muscles with the rest of the body.

  • Promote long-term pelvic floor & core health; by improving natural movement patterns for walking, squatting and lifting so that your everyday movements become part of your healing journey.

  • Remove barriers to pelvic floor and core movement: by working on the mobility of the pelvis, spine and hips

  • Reduce habits that weaken the pelvic floor and core muscles;  including certain breathing patterns and postural habits that create too much pressure or tension in the core and pelvic floor all day long.

What You Can Expect

A 90 minute 1-2-1 assessment of your current alignment, breathing and movement patterns.  This will form the basis of what we work on initially.

  • An online library of single exercise tutorials , educational videos and a programme of progressive movement classes of 20-60 minutes in length designed to support our in- person work.

  • Lifestyle advice to support your journey- this includes information on footwear and clothing, natural movement such as walking and postural habits.
